How to merge several PDF files into one
Last updated: 9 October 2026
Job applications, visa forms, invoices and school assignments often have to be sent as a single PDF. Merging lets you join separate files — a CV, a cover letter and certificates, for example — into one tidy document.
Ready? Open the free Merge PDF tool.
Open Merge PDFStep by step
- Open Merge PDF.
- Select two or more PDF files, or drag them onto the upload area. Use + Add more PDFs if you forgot one.
- Put the files in order by dragging each row by its handle. The top file’s pages come first in the result.
- Optionally type a name in Output file name.
- Click Merge PDF, then Download PDF.
Need to change the pages, not just the files?
- To reorder or remove individual pages after merging, use Organize PDF.
- To take only a few pages from a long file before merging, use Extract Pages.
- Have photos or scans as JPG/PNG? Turn them into a PDF with JPG to PDF first, then merge.
Common questions
Is there a limit on the number of files? There is no fixed limit. Because the work happens on your device, very large batches depend on your computer’s memory; on phones, merging a few dozen pages at a time is most comfortable.
Will the merged file be huge? The result is roughly the sum of the inputs. If it is too big to send, run it through Compress PDF.
What about password-protected PDFs? Remove the password first (only for files you are allowed to open), then merge.
Your file never leaves your device.
