How to convert PDF pages to JPG or PNG images

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Images are easier to share than PDFs in chat apps, on social media and in presentations. Converting a PDF page to an image takes seconds — the only real decisions are which format and which resolution to choose.

Ready? Open the free PDF to JPG tool.

JPG or PNG?

JPG gives smaller files and suits pages with photographs: flyers, menus, brochures and tickets. PNG is lossless, so text, thin lines, charts and diagrams stay perfectly sharp — but the files are larger. If a page is mostly text or a chart, use PDF to PNG; if it is mostly photos, use PDF to JPG.

Step by step (JPG)

  1. Open PDF to JPG and select your PDF.
  2. Choose the image quality: Low (96 DPI), Medium (150 DPI) or High (300 DPI).
  3. Click Convert to JPG. Each page becomes its own image.
  4. Click Download.

The PNG tool works the same way, with Standard (96 DPI), High (150 DPI) and Print (300 DPI) options.

Choosing a resolution

  • 96 DPI — small files for quick sharing in chats or previews.
  • 150 DPI — a good default for screens, slides and websites.
  • 300 DPI — for printing, or when you need to crop and zoom into details.

Higher resolution always means larger files. An A4 page at 300 DPI is about 2,480 × 3,508 pixels — far more than a phone screen needs.

Converting just one page

For one page from a long document, first save it with Extract Pages, then convert. It is quicker and you get only the image you need.

Things to know

  • Text in an image can't be selected or searched. Keep the original PDF if you might need the text.
  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.
  • To put images back into a PDF later, use JPG to PDF or PNG to PDF.
  • For a whole presentation, PDF to PowerPoint places every page on its own slide.

Common questions

Will every page become an image? Yes, one image per page.
