How to sign a PDF without printing and scanning
Last updated: 9 October 2026
Printing a form, signing it with a pen and scanning it back takes time and lowers the quality. You can add your signature directly to the PDF instead.
Ready? Open the free Sign PDF tool.
Open Sign PDFStep by step
- Open Sign PDF and select your PDF.
- Choose the page to sign — it defaults to the last page, where signatures usually go.
- Create your signature: Draw it with your mouse, finger or stylus, or Type your name.
- Drag the signature into place on the preview and adjust Signature size.
- Click Sign PDF and download the signed file.
Tips
- On a phone or tablet, drawing with your finger usually looks more natural than with a mouse.
- Need to add a date or your printed name next to the signature? Use Edit PDF or Fill PDF Forms if the document has form fields.
- Have a scanned signature or a company stamp as an image? Place it with Add Image to PDF.
Is this a legally binding signature?
PDFmoor adds a visual signature image to the page. That is accepted for many everyday documents, such as forms, consent slips and simple agreements. It is not a certificate-based (cryptographic) e-signature, so it won’t meet rules that specifically require a qualified or certified digital signature. When in doubt, ask the person who requested the signature what they accept.
Your file never leaves your device.
